1. Is the hockey program an NCAA sport? What league does it play in?
The Ice Rebels are a full member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). The ACHA began in 1991, and has grown to over 400 men’s teams from across the nation. Also competing as a member of the South Eastern Collegiate Hockey Conference (SECHC) the Ice Rebels compete against Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt as well as non-conference opponents such as Central Florida, Florida State University, University of Memphis, University of Missouri (DII), Tulane, SMU. The Ice Rebels will continue to strive to expand and create a nationally competitive schedule.

2. What other opportunities does the ACHA offer its players?
By playing in the ACHA players will have the opportunity to be selected for the ACHA DIII National team, ACHA All- Star team as well as receiving honors for Academics. Players will also have the opportunity to be selected to the All SECHC Team.

3. When does the season start and end?
Tryouts are usually the first weekend after school starts and the season runs through early to late March depending on how the team does in regionals.

4. How often do you practice?
The team has two 90 minute on ice practices per week along with two dry land practices.

5. How many games do you play?
The Ice Rebels play around 25-30 regular season games and participate in the SECHC Tournament along with the possibility of a Regional and National Tournament.

6. Where do you practice and play?
The Ice Rebels have the availability of two ice facilities. The rink the Ice Rebels will call home for the 2012-2013 season will be the brand new Mid South Ice Arena. However the Rebels will continue to take advantage of ice at the Bancorp South Center in Tupelo, MS.

7. Do you recruit?
Yes. We send out recruitment emails to various programs throughout the country. We encourage players interested in playing to fill-out the recruitment form and we will be in contact with you.

8. Do you offer scholarships for ice hockey?
No. ACHA programs are not allowed to offer scholarships. Please feel free to visit the University of Mississippi Office of Financial Aid.

9. What is the cost to play for the Ice Rebels?
Dues are $1,750 per player. It is the goal of the Ice Rebels to reduce dues and we believe that money should not be an issue with playing. The team is willing to work with all players.

10. What will the team cover?
With the dues paid and other revenues the team will provide jerseys, socks, team warm-ups, shell, helmet, gloves, transportation to and from away games, and all practice and game ice for the year.
