Game 1 (Davenport): Davenport Takes Down the Rebs
Rebels came out against Davenport tough for the first 10 minutes of the game. Skating hard and battling with the #3 team in the North Region. Davenport jumped out though to a 4-0 lead in the first and never turned back.
Game 2 (UM – Flint): Rebs Battle Hard; Blue Come Out On-Top
UM-Flint coming off a loss to Alabama the night before came out flying. The Rebels like the night before came out strong skating stride-for-stride with the Big Blue from Michigan. UM-Flint jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the 1st period, and never gave up that lead. The Rebels came out of the second intermission down 4-1 hoping for a rally but Michigan put two more in the net during the 3rd and finished off the Rebels 6-1.
Game 3 (GVSU): Rebs Take GVSU for the Second Year in a Row
The Ice Rebels looked to finish the weekend with a win against GVSU. Finishing up 3 games in 3 days, and 8 games in 3 weeks the boys were tired. The Rebels jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the 1st. Going into the second period GVSU put 3 quick goals in the net within the first 6 minutes and the Rebels answered with one goal of their own to go into the 2nd intermission even at 4 goals a side. The Rebels and Lakers battled tough for the 3rd period when Cameron Cook came down and put a back hand home, top glove on the Lakers’ goalie. The Lakers’ pulled the goalie and Matt Obstarczyk sealed the win with an empty netter. With 30 seconds left, Ryan Drew put in a 7th goal to send the Rebels home on a high note.
The Ice Rebels finished off the first long stretch of the season with a record of 6-4; finishing off the first 10 games of the season the toughest 6 game regular season stretch of the program’s history. After going 2-4 over that stretch which included 6 of the top 14 teams in the Northern Region, the Rebels get a much needed two week break. The Rebels will be back in action again at the end of the month (October 25/26) against the Arkansas Razorbacks in Springdale, AR.
