North-South Showdown

Game 1 Write-up, courtesy of our friends at Game 1 (IPFW)

  • After a long bus trip, the Rebels played one of their best games coming off such a long ride. The Rebels continued their best start to open a season, starting 5-0. IPFW went on to play Oakland in the championship game on Sunday.

Game 2 and 3 Write-up, courtesy of our friends at Game 2 and 3 (Oakland and Xavier)

  • The Rebels had a quick turn around to play Oakland the next morning. The Rebels could not get their legs under them for the first two periods going down 5-0. The goal was to come out and win one period and the Rebels did that and ended with a 5-1 loss to a top tier Oakland team.
  • With the loss in the morning tilt, the Ice Rebels had no chance to make it to the championship game. With another quick turn around to finish out playing 3 games in 18 hours, the Rebels started slow again going down 3-0. They battled back from a later 5-1 deficit to make it 5-5, and another exchange made it 6-6 at the end of regulation. A tough call at the end of the 3rd period put the Rebels down a man going into OT and Xavier capitalized less than a minute in with a PP goal.

Your Rebels have another tough weekend ahead against some of the North Regions best. Friday they will play Davenport who went into Nationals ranked #1 in the North Region. On Saturday, they will play University of Michigan-Flint who lost in the National Championship game last year against Adrian-Gold. They will round the weekend out against a top 10 ranked Grand Valley State team on Sunday.

Come out and support your Rebels as they look to rebound in the Civil War Showcase in Huntsville, AL!
