Ole Miss Stays Hot, Sweeps Vandy

Last Friday, the Rebels traveled to Nashville for their first SEC match-up of the season against Vanderbilt. Coming off two strong wins against Missouri State the previous week, Ole Miss was looking to continue with their success. The first game showed a lot of back and forth action between both teams, but it was the Rebels who earned the victory with a score of 9-6. Blake Gray had an outstanding game and tallied four goals and three assists. Junior Addison Oliver netted a couple, along with goals from Cameron Cook, Dan Warnecke and Lee Edelman. Junior goaltender Justin Ragland faced 29 shots that game.

The following day, the Rebels completed the series sweep against the Commodores with a win of 5-2.  Oliver started out the scoring for the Rebels in the first period, but Vanderbilt responded with one of their own only five minutes later. Cook scored in the second, along with a goal from Edelman that put the Rebels up by two. Again, Vanderbilt came back in the game after a goal late in the second. However, Gray scored his fifth of the weekend shortly after to give Ole Miss a two-goal lead going into the third. Cook was the only goal scorer in the third period, which clinched the victory for the Rebels. Ragland played a great game, allowing only 2 goals on 32 shots.

This weekend the Rebels will be playing in Cincinnati, Ohio to take on out of conference opponents Indiana Ft. Wayne, Oakland and Xavior. All game can be followed via Twitter @OleMissHockey.
